1What is an energy storage system and how does it works?

An energy storage system applied to self-consumption is the key to managing and controlling your generation. It gives you more flexibility, allowing you to store energy during lower consumption periods and consume it at your convenience. The hybridation is a perfect fit for solar energy. As it only works during daylight hours, a storage system allows surplus energy to be stored and then used during the night or according to your consumption needs.

The useful life of batteries is measured in cycles of use (full charge and discharge). Depending on the technical dimensioning and charging strategy, the battery can go through a series of multiple cycles per year. Depending on the type of battery, the system will last approximately the following number of years:
-Lithium Ion battery storage lasts around 8 to 15 years.
-Acid Lead battery storage lasts around 3 to 5 years.
-Nickel Cadmium battery storage lasts around 15 to 20 years.
-Zinc Bromine battery storage lasts around 5 to 10 years.
